Salome in Switzerland under the direction of Peter Konwitschny
The Princess Salome has already became the main role of Helene’s career. This is a highly complex role that requires from the artist a great vocal technique, stamina and an intense dramatic performance. Considering Tati Helene had perfect skills to play the character, her teachers during master’s degree course at the Conservatory Antonio Buzzolla, Italy, selected this role as a foreign language work to be fully prepared and trained by her.
Her outstanding participation in the da Paz Theather Opera Festival in 2012 as doppione of the role resulted in an invitation to live Senta (Der fliegende Holländer-Wagner) in the 2013 Festival. The Artistic Director of the Festival, Gilberto Chaves, said at the press conference: “I venture to say that Tati Helene is one of the few, maybe the only, Brazilian singer to be able to tackle this role.”
In October 2013 it was time Switzerland got to know Helene’s Salome. By Verena Keller’s invitation, Helene played again the cruel princess under the direction of Peter Konwitschny in Opernwerkstatt project presentations in the cities of Sigriswill, Thun, Bern and Zürich, being again a success among critics:
“Besonders vehement demonstrierten … und Tati Helene als Salome ihre Ausdauer in raumgreifender Dramatik.” (Tages-Anzeiger – Zürich/out2013)
“Grösstenteils bringen die Sängerinnen und Sänger ihre Charaktere aber authentisch rüber.” (Thuner Tagblatt – Thun/out2013)
