Already a reference in Brazil, attracting singers from all over the country (this year there were 70 subscribers), and also serving as a bridge between the local scene and international educational institutions, the Opera Studio of Recife was created by Marcelo Ferreira, singer and voice teacher born in Pernambuco. This year, the academic staff was a highlight on itself, Tati Helene, Vitor Philomeno and Marcelo Ferreira were the big national names and joined them the americans Cynthia Lawrence and Mark Calkins (Cynthia has performed in over 70 concerts alongside Luciano Pavarotti) and the Italian opera director Stefano Vizioli, artistic board member of the prestigious Accademia Filarmonica Romana and acclaimed director of internationally renowned operas.

The whole course was a success and at the end of the closing concert, it was clear that a brilliant new generation of singers as well as national teachers who were drinking knowledge from Europe and America and returned to bring it to their country is being formed.
