Yesterday FAU Maranhão held a historic concert. The audience filled the old house on a cold night to celebrate the return of Duo Veredas.

The last concert of the Duo, formed by Tati Helene and Rodolfo Jonasson, had been 7 years ago, but now the two artists met again to continue the brilliant work of research and dissemination of Brazilian classical music after all these years apart.

The Duo was formed in 2004 and had intense activity until 2007, performing in Latin America and Brazil. One of the most important moments of those years was the presentation at the Solis Theater in Montevideo in 2006, as long as the master classes taught at the University of Uruguay’s Republic in the city of Salto, themed on classical Brazilian music and singing technique applied to singing in Portuguese.

The concert this Saturday had 4 songs from iconic composers of Brazilian classical music: Osvaldo Lacerda, Waldemar Henrique, Claudio Santoro, Edmundo Villani-Côrtes and Heitor Villa-Lobos in a program called “4”. At the end of the concert, the audience requested and the  Duo perforned as an encore Canto da Saudade from Alberto Costa, who was for many years one of the main songs of their repertoire.
