Tati Helene Establishes Herself as the Natural Successor to Eliane Coelho

Soprano Tati Helene recently shone at the Theatro Municipal of Rio de Janeiro, portraying the character of the Foreign Princess in Antonín Dvořák’s renowned opera Rusalka. This production marked a special moment in Helene’s career, as she shared the role with the prestigious Eliane Coelho, solidifying her position as Coelho’s natural successor.

Although the official program indicated that this was her debut on the Theatro Municipal stage, Helene had already made her mark there previously, singing the role of Medea in Cherubini’s opera. On that occasion, she also replaced Eliane Coelho — but on the same day — performing with the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra (OSB) under the baton of Argentine conductor Carlos Vieu.

In Rusalka, Tati Helene’s performance was especially praised by both the public and critics. Her powerful voice, combined with a striking stage presence, stood out in the role of the story’s antagonist, captivating the audience. The success was so great that the soprano was invited to star in the 2025 season at the Theatro Municipal, securing her place among the leading figures in Brazilian opera.

Critic Leonardo Marques, writing on his blog, highlighted Helene’s performance, stating: “… only soprano Tati Helene delivered a more complete performance in every sense. […] Her strong presence and confident voice were a perfect match for the Foreign Princess.”

With these achievements, Tati Helene confirms her talent and promises to gain even greater prominence in the Brazilian operatic scene.
